Luna Meditation

Comprising images of 550 individually painted oil portraits of kitten, Luna, Luna Meditation is the ultimate internet cliché, a purring kitten set against an evolving soft pastel background. Produced during New Zealand's first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, the portrait is offered as a small calming meditation, a comfort and respite for stressful, uncertain times.

6 paintings are retained as evidence or a kind of ‘residue’ of the work that took place over 60 days.
